Hi, I have a site whereby I originally created the files as key_word.htm but then later changed to key-word.htm I thought I have deleted the "underscore" version key_word.htm but only realised that I didn't after DPN devalidated my site because I didn't have ads on those pages. Since the key_word.htm and key-word.htm have the same content except for how the page is named, I went and deleted all the key_word.htm and tried to re-validate my site. However, DPN doesn't validate because it still tracks back those key_word.htm which I have already deleted. Can you please advise? Also, I have another site where it tries to validate a sub-folder which doesn't exist in my website. Not sure how it found the path. Any advice on this as well? Thanks. mng
Ad validation checks pages Google has indexed. It sounds like Google has indexed key_word.htm. Good luck. Shannon
I think there may be some work arounds. In fact I posted some ideas last night then went back in and deleted and hoped someone who has been through your situation would come forth. You can request Google to remove pages causing the problems from their index. Someone mentioned it took a couple of days for it to be done for their site as I remember. By doing a Google search Google remove URL you will find he link to use to request old pages be removed from index. If however the majority of your pages involve the underscore it may not be worth having them removed for your co-op weight might be too small to be of benefiit. Another option is to just wait for Google to reindex site. Lastly it might be possible to use mod rewrite concept to work around the problem. I personally have not knuckled under and learned syntax of mod rewrite. Hopefully someone who knows more will step in with advice. Good luck. Shannon
I'm not really familiar with mod rewrites but I think I'll see how I can get Google to deindex those underscore pages. I have the exact same pages in hyphen and would not want G to penalize me. Thanks for sharing.
