I think if they did that with the present set up it would jeopardize other resources like upload speed etc, a pipe can only pass so much data.

I think the balance of resources with throttling is more technical than what is merely wanted

jadams - a 1000mbit line can transmit, 125MB/s download and 125MB/s upload at the same time :)

Well a 1000mbit/ 1Gbps is around $10,000/month server bill maybe Filepost can enlighten us because doing the maths even that is a shed load of premium sales needed

jadams - actually... say I have 10 racks, containing 40 servers each, so 400 servers, each rack usually has 10gbit connected to it, so... lets call it 100gbit, but obviously this will be oversold, so lets say they rent 50gbit - 50gbit can usually be rented from most hosts in .nl for €1/mbit so.. they are looking at €50,000/month.

    ------------------------------

Infact if they negotiated then... they could get it for less... as if they went to Leaseweb, i3d & webazilla then they could probably get it for like €40,000/month.

It's frightening and that's not counting any other expenses, and then the wage bill and the techs must be on a generous hourly rate, well I wouldn't sleep at night with that pressure.

As for the speed question, we sure understand its importance, recently we 'caught' and fixed an issue with the channels for example ( sure, it is not pleasant to see issues with channels).

    KB/s, sorry for misleading you.

We do not think at the moment that would be a good idea. There are enough tools within marketing settings that allow to control downloads and make them more or less user-friendly.

Things here are way more measured than at filesonic. There's a 100 MB/hour limit for free users. That should be around 2.4 GB or something more per day. While things are different with other big hosts, yet they seem to be able to handle it without problems. I'm getting more than 500 KB/s per second as free at filesonic for a really big file, and then after some time, I can just start downloading more. They should watch out most for leeching sites which can cause big loads.

150 KB/s is sufficient for free users, maintaining this speed for all files is more important now.

150 KB/s is my max free or premium with any host, well sometimes if the wind is in the right direction I get 180 :(

I haven't had any issues with speed here, just piping in.

Edit: I'm having issues with referrals though. Somebody i referred earlier this month hasn't shown up and I have been informed they are making sales, that i'm not getting anything for. I have submitted a ticket, I hope this is sorted out soon. I love FilePost but I hate feeling like I could be losing out on any income due to a technicality. The ticket number is

freeuser speed gets people interested in the host, they start to use it more often as a free user, then they buy premium cause they like the site and want faster speed

To everyone who had AlertPay payout requests - we processed them yesterday and the day before. Please check. Sorry for the delay with that.

I have checked your ticket. Seems the user used some other partner link to register at the service.

Can this be swapped over, then?
He must have forgotten to use my referral link.
Fair enough, that does happen sometimes. He didn't mention using anybody else ref link though so i'll talk to him about that.
I can also get him to contact you and prove that it was I who referred him. If you look at his websites and mine, you'll see they are similar.
It annoys me that some random person is making money off his earnings considering i'm the person who taught him everything I know.

In my world that's unfair. It also has the effect of making me nervous to teach other people how I make so much money on file hosts in the future.
I know what i'm doing, that's why i'm able to generate up to twenty sales per day on my best days.
I haven't asked for a custom plan on FilePost, because I am not greedy, but I would like this issue sorted out.
I didn't even ask for a premium account, I paid for two of them before your staff extended it.

I understand that this is an unusual request, and that I should just suck it up and understand I can't force people to remember to use my exact link, but a similar thing happened to me with Wupload when I was with them, and they fixed it for me, and I was happy.

Sigh.... other than this though my FilePost experience has been just fine. Thank you for continued pay outs.

You sure need to talk to this person and ask him to contact our support team directly - he just should explain the whole situation, the support team will review the case. I understand that he could have followed someone's else link without even realizing that clearly...
