Due to a database corruption issue, since the new rewards program was launched, there was a serious bug which has caused all downloads to be paid out twice each day. This means that each day, all of our members have been earning twice the advertised rate for each download.

We have corrected the issue and re-calculated the last weeks worth of rewards. Even though we have been paying out double rewards for the last few weeks, we would like you to all keep the amounts that we've sent. This issue was our mistake, consider the extra money a thank you for using FileFactory.

Please re-request any pending payouts! We will be performing payments on Monday to give you all time to do this.


We are ordering another 50TB of storage and we have just increased our bandwidth by 2GB/s which will begin solving the time issues. We are redistributing files which unfortunately takes time - the speed should be increasing every day though...

There was a service disruption which affected a large number of our users for approximitely 12 hours yesterday. You may have experienced timeouts while trying to download files, or errors when uploading files (Server I/O Error, 50x Errors, etc).

A core component of our infrastructure was experiencing very degraded performance, which in turn caused a bottleneck across all of our other systems which was responsible for the disruption. We take matters like this extremely seriously, and our engineers worked through the night to restore service.

We have put safeguards in place to prevent this issue re-occurring, and we have extended all Premium member's accounts by 24 hours as compensation for the inconvenience suffered during this time.

Thanks for using FileFactory, we sincerely apologize for this issue and want to thank all of our members who let us know that they were experiencing problems. Everything should be back to normal now, but if you do continue to experience errors when uploading or downloading, please contact us and we'll investigate the issue for you.

 

still facing remote upload issue. showing pending for a long time. was fine some 4 hours back

edit: atleast not giving error like before. uploaded fine after some time, but still file remaining pending for long time!

Basically, what was happening is that when we were calculating reward earnings we did it in two stages; first downloads were counted, and then sales were counted. The totals were supposed to then be combined together, and that would become your total earnings for the day.

What was actually happening though, is that due to the DB issue, downloads were being calculated, and then instead of the sales being calculated separately, the download earnings were being added to the sales and then the total was being combined again. The "Sales" column in the report actually contained the sales commission and the total download earnings.

It's difficult to explain, so an example will illustrate it better. Say you had earned $10 for your downloads and $5 from sales, that should have become a total of $15 ($10 + $5 = $15). With the error though it would have been $25, because $10 for downloads, + $15 ($5 from sales + the $10 from the downloads) = $25.

I hope this explanation makes sense. I apologize on behalf of FileFactory for this issue. We have added extra calculation verification steps into our reporting to alert us of any miscalculations like this caused by incorrectly stored data; although I am hopeful that an issue like this will never happen again.

 

Those who payments were declined we have given a explanation in the their email.Main reason for decline is because you are mirroring the same files you're hosting on FileFactory on other hosts. This is against our Reward program's rules.

The reason that we have been forced to implement this rule is because mirroring the same file across multiple hosting websites removes the incentive for downloaders to purchase a Premium account, as none of the restrictions will affect them. Running a file hosting website like ours is extremely expensive and the only way that we can afford to continue running the company is by selling Premium memberships - and when you share files across multiple hosts, sales decrease dramatically or completely stop.

We want to create relationships with our uploaders and work with them exclusively which will enable both us and them to make bigger profits. Using us exclusively will guarantee that you will have higher sales (which you earn a commission on), and will ensure that we will be able to continue adding new features and capacity. If you are mirroring files but doing it in a way that still generates Premium sales we will normally still pay your Rewards - if you're selling enough memberships to cover your Reward payments, then we're not running at a loss. When you're requesting more money than you're generating through sales, and directly violating our Reward program's rules though, we are unable to make these payments.

I hope this helps explain the reason we have this rule. We appreciate all of our uploaders and will gladly make these payments if you want to work with us and follow the Reward program's rules.
