I try to keep track of my 404 errors to make sure that my web site doesn't have any problems. I have been getting a lot of 404 hits for documents that are on my site, but they are either trying to get them from the root directory or non-existent subdirectories. And at least half of my reported 404 errors are " /`%20+%20bodyFrame%20+%20` " Anyone have any idea what this is all about? wiz
Have you checked some of the files yourself and see if the files are loading correctly. Or if they were currently moved to another directory then the links would also need to be updated accordingly.
I have searched carefully for such things, because of course I am trying to find errors in my site. The crazy thing is that there will be 20 to 100 documents with exactly the same number of attempts a day. All of the links on my website point to the correct directory. Which makes me think that it is a robot. best regards mark
Normally what i do is check that all my files are accessible from different Ips' with no problem, then the next thing is ignore it because i havent got the time to disturb myself about errors that causes confusion in my head.
I've seen this before. They're normally generated by bots. If they're that annoying (or otherwise clogging your server logs), just block the bots from your robots.txt file and/or block their IP addresses (or even entire IP ranges if necessary).
You can use whatever browser you want. This has to be done on the server, afterall. (Though there are better means of accessing a server that don't involve them; but if you're not comfortable with the command line, you might as well give up should you try them.)
This is annoying. Yesterday I got over 1000 hits on these errors. Because they start with weird characters I can't target them. I am worried that the volume is getting high enough to mess up my statistics. best regards wiz
