file extension problem

    hey i reinstalled windows xp, and photoshop cs4, now when i save my psd as a jpg the file extention stays as .psd instead of turning into .jpg automatically when i select JPG from the dropdown file type.


    Is this a windows xp or a photoshop setting?:eek:

    Hi there.

    Try to change filetype while saving the file or you might have changed some default settings in the program. Reset to defaults can help.

    I agree with andrewpr, you will need to reset the Photoshop saving defaults. Also if you turn on hide known extensions in XP then that default extension shouldn't show in Photoshop. This will make it easier to save and name your file.

    To reset photoshop defaults, hold CTRL+ALT+SHIFT when you first start up photoshop, and you'll be prompted to reset to defaults.

    any one who has the same problem:

    i solved it useing "powertoys for windows xp: tweak ui"

    it was an xp setting problem, with files types.
