Fighting Directory Spam - Quick phpLD Mod

I know the technique is crude, but it works really well. I wanted to share it with others to give them ideas too.

I saw it but it fights only a certain kind of spam and what about spam bots

Cool.. I do receive quit a bit of spam submissions with bbcode.
This mod should be able to deal with them.

 

To be fair, my technique is a tool in the fight against spam, not a silver bullet. I has caused me a 98% drop in spam submissions which are hard work to clear out. I'd say it does what I want it to.

Just sharing that others can benefit. Not enough people do that, only a few do.

 

Thank you for your release of this mod.
In addition, we have been continuing to fine tune the methods over in the phpLD supporters forum as well, and when we reach a point where we have some solid controls in place, we will likely make a new release of both v2.1 and v.3.1. I can tell you that using the existing release of 3.1 I have been able to cut down spam by 95% already. Thanks again for your release.

 

Great post. Keep them coming . . . I have already been getting spammed on a new directory and need all the tips I can get.
