    Hi guys,
Long time for being away, I see that there are a lot of new faces in here.
I have a quick Q for you guys:
FFA (Free For All - for those who don't know) sites usually don't help much, only taking a lot of your bandwidth, and also they are not that favorite among the major SE, I would like to get your opinion on that and see if something has changed in the past few months cause I'm not up to date.

    Yours truly,
    Jack

Stay far far far away from those types of sites!
In my experience I have seen them hurt your site more than help.. Not to mention the massive amounts of spam that you just can't seem to ever get rid of no matter how many times you unsubscribe
I will never ever ever again try that form of linking/advertising, its evil :)

Stay away! I think Google will kill you.

    Going by my theory,

Google is dividing the internet in to 'groups'. Then, they just mark certain 'bad' groups of the internet as bad, and you get penalized. -- If they aren't doing this yet, they definately will be soon.
