Hi everyone, I was wondering how do search engines differentiate between a ffa link farm site and a word cloud site? They both have very similar characteristics such as having a bunch of non-relevant links on a single page. The reason why Im curious is because I've noticed most ffa link farms have 0 PR and are usually banned/penalized, while many world cloud sites achieve high PR and are seen favorably by search engines.
I think FFA is dead since long ago. Why just word cloud? You can have a regular directory and word cloud in a script, see here: www.indexudirectory.com
"I've noticed most ffa link farms have 0 PR and are usually banned/penalized," - Can you post some examples please?
How could a search engine possibly see a difference? A page with a bunch of random links. Just a new PC term "link farm" = "Word Cloud" Does sound better.
Some of the old link farms which are now closed for submissions, actually benefit sites which are still listed on them. Guess the age of a site overshadows the lack of quality.
I fail to see the difference between a link farm and a word cloud. They seem like the same thing to me.
I don't think you get penalized for being on either. You might now get any advantage but there will be no negative penalty.
Even though I bought some links from those sites, I wasn't too happy because they are really similar to link farm like some of you said. It's like million pixel sites. So I came up with an idea of making the page have a theme. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=220299
Just because a site is ranked high does not mean that it contains any value. It can have a lot of links but not give any relevance back to you.
