This is really a good advice FOR SPAMMERS. Every spammy post starts with titles you wrote. Mostly used: "10, 7, 5 the Best..." Nobody reads spammy posts !!!! Please - stop spreading this nonsense.
It's not spamming, but good copywriting technique. Here are the article blurbs from a recent cover of Men's Health: 'Incredible 24 Hour Fat Burn!' 'Get Back in Shape! See Results in Just 8 Days!' '27 Flat Belly Powerfoods' '30 Red Hot Sex Secrets' '5 Fast (!) Money Secrets' 'Smash Stress in 30 Seconds or Less!' '792 Cool New Health, Fitness, Sex & Style Tips! These were all on the same cover. So is Men's Health 'spamming' too? A title, online or offline, may be your one shot to 'sell' people to even bother to look at the article. People are more inclined to read it if it promises to give them quick and easy knowledge ('6 steps to...') and/or pertains to something controversial or pleasurable (e.g., sex).
Those are low quality, mostly worthless "articles". Just another blah, blah about nothing. Spammers use same technique. 10 images, two lines of text, links to other sites and title: 10 the best ... And you have an "article".
The headline should be descriptive and straight to the point. Also ensure that the headline matches with the content that is on the post.
We can't call it spamming unless uses these techniques for spamming. But we have seen a lot that articles with good quality content fails to get enough readers only because it was not presented well. I hope all of you may have a personal experience of that
Hey Jithin. I came across a great eBook on how to write great headlines on www.alomay.com. If you scroll down the page you'll find it. Have a look and let me know your thoughts!
I totally agree with this. Even most people use this strategy in spamming, but it will be different if you use it in quality articles.
