Few Questions About Wordpress

I am planning on purchasing a customized theme for the WordPress. The theme is a bit cluttered and I want to fix it up a bit.

For example: On the some of the pages of the theme there is a bar on the side that has three tabs "Popular", "Tags" and "Recent". I want to place this bar (only the "popular" tab) on the home. And I would like to fix up a couple of other pages as well. How would a person do such thing?

There is going to be a decent number of categories and I was wonder if it would be possible to create something seen here (hxxp://www.associatedcontent.com/creative_writing/?cat=47) where there is a drop down menu showing all categories when scrolling over "All Categories". Some other sites have it as well but I like this one better.

Also changing around the customize theme homepage menu.


I am not too knowledgeable in WP, how difficult would these task be? Also what is a rough estimate of the cost, if I hired someone to do such?

You can check the code and it sounds like a tabbed function in the sidebar. Why would you need a tab if you are just going to use popular posts on the home page and not the others. Just use the popular tabs function maybe with some plugin on the homepage.

Regarding the drop down menu, there are a lot of themes which use the drop menu function and you can use any such theme. I think there are some plugins in wordpress too for the dropdown menu bar.

One question I have though. You mentioned at the start that you are purchasing a customized theme for Wordpress. I am a bit confused with that statement. Do you mean you want somebody to customize a theme for you because I dont think you can purchase a "customized theme" yet want to fix it. If you have not yet bought the theme then why dont you purchase a theme with the functions you mentioned already present.

 

Yes Waziuz: I picked the wrong choice of wrongs. I am planning on purchasing a theme and looking for someone to customize it. I have been looking for weeks for a theme but it hard to find a theme that fits exactly your taste. ...there are many nice mag type themes for wordpress but there is always some work a person must do in order to get it the way they want it.

It would be simple to this yourself.....Have a look around for sidebar plugins compatible.

What kind if theme are you looking for?There are many free themes out there too.
The things you mentioned are not hard to do.Try to use google and see if it helps.If you are not able to do it then hire someone.

 

Thank you Mccomf for your reply: I am looking for a magazine type theme. I found one on the Th3m3F0r3st website. I know very little about coding but many have said that it can be done, but maybe I am typing in the word keywords.
