Few Lengthy Articles vs. Many Short Articles..

    Dear all,

Do you recommend to have a few long articles (500+ words) or many short articles (+- 100/200 words)? and what about word-count; can I display Google Adsense on a page which has only 100 words or so?

Example: page 1 "what is a washing machine?" and then explain it in 100 words, then page 2 "what are the main components of a washing machine?", then another 200 or 250 words answering this question, etc?

    Cheers!

After to Google panda I would stick with 500 to no more than 750 words. Offer great value and original content that will make your searchers want more.

I found that longer articles do better than short ones (even before the current Google update). I define long as 400-500+ words articles...

I would not call a 100-200 word text an article..

My articles are between 1000 and 3500 words long and I have noticed that if you can keep your articles
to the point and make them above 1300 words, you will find it very easy to rank well for highly competitive keywords.

I have had articles rank past established niche websites. So yes, long articles rules the search engine if you know how to write them.
It takes me about 1 hour to write a 2000+ word article.

I think this depends on how competitive yuor keywords are. For low comp. kws, short pages are ok. For kws with higher comp., more content will be an advantage. However, the important thing is to provide useful & unique content. Panda doesn't say anything about length of content, but it's about quality of content, "user happiness" (time on site, bounce rate...) and also about quality links. On the other hand, it's gonna be difficult to rank for a competitive kw with a short 200 word article.

Its keyword game and how smartly you use them in your article. Its obvious that you can't write anything crap and get away, so you need to maintain that too and at the same time use the keyword efficiently and then see the results. A 100 word article is enough for placing 2-3 keywords if the writer has experience and has a know-how of SEO writing.

I would say 400words+ articles are a good way to go, but make sure the articles are of GOOD quality!

Adnan959, don't you think that a 400 word article is more than enough and opting for a safer option. Whereas, going forward with explaining different topics in 200-250 word is a nice way to begin with.

I usually write articles ranging between 400 to 500 words which contain effective keywords, there by you will see the result you expect.

    Thanks for all the replies...

At this moment in time I'll keep it to around 400 and that should be a good balance provided it is of good quality aswell!

I would rather go with a long 1k word article than a 200 word article
because google wants to see quality not quantity
and yea you can put adsense on it but you can expect it to get banned from google sooner or later as google wants quality
