Facebook is kind of difficult. You will need a picture that is very eye-catching. Perhaps try using your logo and add some complimentary colors? That'll help. Wouldn't you just use fb/pages/create? From there, its basically spreading the link and getting likes.
for the quality of the pictutlre just follow the recommended fanpage size and it will be good.. 1 fanpage per site and niche is agolden rule to follow unless you are spamming facebook

I have a website and i would like to create a page, what kind of page should i create? => If that's a commercial website, then "Product/Service" is best option. If your website is a blog, I think It should be "Community" page
