I have few dislikes. I think that the forum is too hostile to the newbies, maybe there is a reason for this, but I still dislikes that. Hostile means there are so many rules you need to follow in order to do something, post reply, make a signature, post a link, start a thread etc... The problem is that you get no explanations about the problem, you're just not allowed to do something.

When I tried to post a reply to some thread, with a link in a text, the engine didn't let me do that.Than I just typed in an address instead of a link, and that was OK according to the same smart engine - in the form domainname.com without http and www... But a day later, I get "You have received an infraction at Digital Point Forums" message ???!!!
    - my message was deleted, and I still get messages from that thread..

I don't know man, I hope it'lll pay off at the end, all this hustle. Some of my friends are here, hope Ill fit in one day :)

It would be great if I could check at this moment, what are my rights around here. And If I am not allowed to do something - why not.
But that would take some programming changes in a script - and that's not gonna happen of course. :)

    Cheers

Hey! You're new! Stay here for some time and you'll have fun.

I've seen people who sign up to DP just to make a couple of posts to promote their links and services and that's probably the reason why DP has all the restrictions that you've mentioned. It was there for the mods, the senior members here, for me and so for you too. You'll get outta the phases soon. Enjoy DP!

You can check the reason for infraction in the email notification sent to you.

You'll get the hang of it eventually. :) Just think of it like this - we're a super exclusive society, & you're currently being initiated. :p
DO NOT be surprised if you get banned too (really), coz it happens to all of us. It's no big deal, just learn from your mistakes & come back when the ban's expired.

It's how they successfully run a forum this big. You have to understand that desperate times call for desperate measures. Just to keep everyone disciplined & the forum free of spam. :)

Newbies are always welcome, & eventually you'll learn that. We're just really strict, but it doesn't mean it's personal (it happens to everyone). Don't say I didn't warn ya! :p

One of the conclusions, but a little far fetched. :p

    I must disagree!!!!

I have found the forum to be a welcoming place as long as you respect the quite acceptable rules in place to keep idiots away.

As newbies we have come with very little to offer other than a potential marketplace for the experts and their services. In fact many of us are asking the same questions over and over again without reading back through the previous posts or doing basic search functions to see if our query has already been answered 1,000+ times.

The only restriction I found inconvenient for me was the 25 post mimimum before I could post in the buy and sell section but I understand the reasons for it. This would quickly become a spamming bazzar if that wasn't there. I found the 25 post level difficult to reach as everytime I wanted to know something I found it elsewhere on the forum without needing to ask so perhaps a "quality index" on initial posts could lower that level. The 2 week delay should also be enough to filter out the spammers.
