few directory questions

I have some domain names that I have no use for, yet they don't really have 'directory' sounding domains. Would it be a good idea to still make directories out of them? I figure after awhile they would get high pr and I'd be able to sell featured links and make some decent money? or would that be stupid? I just don't know. I've seen weird named letter directories, like "hjlk" "qruk" etc they make no sense, so why should mine :p I really don't mind having 10 open directories IF they pay off after some time. will people just not link back and make them worthless? I wonder

If you want your directory to be taken seriously then have a serious domain - really it is that simple....

I would not pay to submit to a directory called hjlk.com

It depends what the domains are and if they have pr already and how you advertise them.

You dont need pr or high pr to sell featured links.

PR is not the only thing which is considered by buyers. Nowadays, buyers have become very intelligent and they do lot of research for domain history, dropped status etc. before they purchase link on any dir.

If it's a good brandable name and doesn't have 'dir' you can go for it.

how would the directory gain in pr if no recipricol is required? I'm considering it, but I don't want to just be stuck with unprofitable "link farms" with no linkbacks

I am agree......buyer see factors like domain name, age, reputation, listing of sites as well as design of your directory...

I know this because i have few directories and i have separate staff to manage those directories to keep them clean and regular approval...

if you have free domain and u dont have any idea to use them at this time then make directories there.
and also buy a good domain for directory purpose and advertise your main directory on you all other directories.

so may be you will can earn some money with your main best directory. :)

Making your directory pay is fairly labour-intensive, and not really an easy source of cash. If they have odd names that's going to put off submitters, and people will be less likely to link in because of the negative association bad names have with lots of unedited directories and link farms.
