Just curious to know before investing some bucks in buying links.
Kindly reply your answers with points.

    1. We have several PR4 to PR1 sites, If we want to increase our PR should we only buy from sites with high PR ?
    Example:
    mysite.com = PR3
Should i only buy links from higher PR sites ? or can work with many sites with equivalent or lower PR ?

    2. Should we go for mass site-wide link-exchanges on sites with low PR ?

    3. What should be the minimum time, to keep our links on other sites.
(1 month or atleast 3 months or more)

    4. If our site theme is Technology/Computers, does buying links on health related/gambling/travel sites hurt our popularity or rankings ?

    5. Please provide any other helpful information and/or useful tips

    Regards,

Don't do anything "mass" when it comes to the search engines. Only invest on sites that have PR greater then yours (PR 6 or 7) if possible. Linking from sites that have that have PR equivalent to yours can only result in a waste of money, unless they have a theme very related to yours, it won't increase your PR as such but will give you a boost on the serps.

There is no minimum time. This is why the search engines favor natural links and obviously, a site owner will not link to your site with intention to remove it sometime later. Try to seek permanent links (High PR directories for example)

Of course linking to a site whose theme is irrelevant to yours will HURT your rankings. Geeting good results from the search engines is not just HIGH PR game. You have have relevant links from sites that are related to your theme.

I truly recommend no minimum time period when buying links. Invest and intend to own (rent) the link permanently for a few reasons...

A short term link purchase gets you what? Some more frequent visits by a search engine?

To see PR pass through, I think six month minimum, maybe nine, but if you cancel your link renting, then your PR will drop in the next update.

In addition, there is a well-known delayed anchor text effect wherein the actual anchor text you use will help your rankings for that term -- but it takes about almost a year to see it help your ranking in Google at least.

Try various tricks (DP coop ad network, link vault, use your sig links in various forums, link exchange, post to e-mail lists that archive participant's e-mails on-line, etc.), but for link purchases, budget wisely and buy with the intention of paying for the link indefinitely. Some people (myself included) will sell "permanent" links for a one-time payment but they are relatively expensive compared to the monthly rate for similar pages.

I honestly haven't studied the market enough, but I've been offering (and selling a lot of!) permanent links in articles for as little as $72...

    thanks for replies.
i can make out few important things here,
    * Getting long-term link-exchanges (minimum of 6-9 months)
    * Linking to high PR sites only ! (Our site links should only be placed on higher PR Sites compared to us)
    * Similar site theme is another important factor.

    Last question,
If our site PR is 2.0 and theme is computers, shall placing our link on a site with PR4,PR6 with non-computer theme affect ? or create negative remarks ?

    Regards,

some people claim that site wide backlinks will hurt your site but I doubt that is true.

Imagine if you wanted to do harm to your competitors, all you would have to do is link to them with a site wide link.

I have seen very favourable results after aquiring sitewide links, especially on MSN and Yahoo

Can you kindly clarify in details about the term "Steady Growth" ?
    Thanks in advance.

what i can understand after reading through DP posts, not to overlink immediately, instead go slowly with a max of 9 new links a day ?

This is wrong information. Those kinds of links don't hurt your site - they are just plain useless and a waste of time!

I advice you to go for theme base links rather than high PR.

If it's "theme base links" and high PR - all the better :)

I am still waiting for a conclusive answer,
Will a non-theme based high PR create negative affect ? or help ? If it does helps how ?

    Thanks again.
