Hi everyone As I'm a developer and absolutly not a designer, I've got the feeling that the design of the last website I was working on has something wrong. Please if you can have a look and leave some comments and critics, you would be more than welcome, as it would help me to improve it here is the link: www.dpms2.com Thank
Hey. The design looks fine, but i will point out some things i think could be improved. Login|Register|About us Buttons at the top left could be made abit smaller. Move the whole design down abit, so the logo don't look squashed. The header font/writing seems abit blurry to me, might just be my eyes though. They are the only things i think could be improved. Other than that, the design looks great. I'm a website layout designer myself, & you've done a good job. Sarah.
Thanks Sarahmclaughlanx for your comments, I've modified what you said. I think I've been working for too long on this one and seen it too many times I'll try to redo the logo. thanks again
You should drastically change the banner. Stop worrying about the design as much and focus more on getting your message across and selling the product. Potential customers shouldn't have to read the content to find out what your software does. Making the most eye catching thing on the page "Welcome to the DPMS2 website" is a waste of valuable space. Also the picture doesn't show potential customers anything valuable. You should have different text that sells with a better image showing the software. The Call to Action button definitely should not be the same color as the banner, you should make it stand out by making a contrasting color. This website is a great example of what I'm talking about: http://www.freshbooks.com/
Hi, Well i find your home page perfect ,your design is ok but u have to work on internal pages, put the topic / heading in trasparent boxes and correct the allignements ,rest is ok even some of u r icons at home page have no link or may be links are not working .. thanks
I think your biggest issue isn't aesthetic, It's marketing strategy. After looking at your website for 10+ seconds, I still had no idea as to what the software did. Reduce your header size, change the header text to what the software does, get rid of some of that empty space below your footer, and remove "about us" from your main navigation since you've already got it up top with login. Hope that helps!
I agree with zyuriy about reducing your header size. To me, too big of a header is a lot of people's main problem with their website. You're not selling a "header creating" service right? So, why make that the most important thing on your site? Your software is your most important thing...instead of "Try the Software in your header, I'd change it to "Learn more" or something like that, because personally I wouldn't want to try something if I didn't even know what it did, would you? Also, I would NEVER put "About Us" on the first page...ever. People don't care about "us" lol They care about what we have and how it will help them. On your homepage, I'd have a short lil snippet about each of your software, with a "teaser" description about how each one can help them, with a link right below the brief description where they can read the full description and/or download it. I'm not tryin to be mean, your site looks REAL good. And anything I suggested can be easily fixed. But smaller header, and no "About Us" on homepage is something I'd definitely consider changing...but hey, that's just my opinion Again though, overall great job on the site and best wishes to ya
Thanks everyone for these good advices, I started to work on some of them. Unfortunately, I had to remember as well that the boss is always right, even if he's not So I might not be able to change everything.
