I have been trying to promote my forums for a while now... and I am having trouble getting people to post on the forums.

I am looking to get some advice and get people posting on my forums... I dont know how to attract people.. any ideas? can people start posting there?

you can purchase a posting service, the member forumbulge offers that.

 

IMO you should start attracting members for your forum. You can add contest and give freebies.

Set up a budget and hire paid posters... seems to be the only way to get a forum started now, since they are already thousands of them.

I never stay on a board that only has a few posts, no matter how interesting it might look
