All other search engine, like AllTheWeb and AltaVista and etc. Don't they feed off google, yahoo, and msn? Meaning they put the sites in their search engine from what the other three sites index. I don't see too many bots from alltheweb and altavista going on my website so thats why I am asking.

Yes that's true. Even Yahoo indexes Google search results - sometimes I see tracking URLs from Google AdWords appear in the Yahoo SERPs

I was surprised to see that ask.com indexed one of my sites of more than 10K pages in 3 days. Google will take weeks and yahoo probably months for this.

Yes, indeed, a good sign, but they do not send so many hits.

Yeah that is why I only stick with Google and sometimes Yahoo. Those other lesser known engines pretty much take what other major engines offer already.

i've noticed that altavista has been responsible for 3gigs of traffic so far this month from our article directory - but i can't figure out why... lol... they claim they use yahoo search results...

And they probably do. Users from altavista and Yahoo may not be searching for the same thing. Different audience could have different search interests.
