Which do you think better? Showing your number of feed viewer or hide it? Assume that feed viewer is low.

I never show my subscriber number. Either way, people will get upset about it! If the number is low, people will think your content must not be worth much, if your number is high, people will think you don’t need more subscribers!

If it's less than 100 I'd not show it.

ETA - I disagree with danimal about people not subscribing if it's too high. Most people are lemmings. If one does it others will follow. People don't subscribe/not subscribe based on how many they think you need but people WILL subscribe if they think other people find your site useful. They won't want to miss out. Why do you think that most adverts include information like "62% of people think...". They want to get people on the bandwagon - and that's what a high subscriber count can do - just like a low one can do the opposite.

    My rule is:

If over 500, show it. If less than 500, hide it.

well i've been doing my own research on this. My number is under 100, and when I hide it, the number decrease more. I think if you did not show the number, people will 'think' that there is no body reading it. If there is a number, people will like to read too although the number is low. Has anybody here tested hiding and showing it?

I don't bother showing it, I have enough crap on my sites that I'd rather people look at than a silly little chicklet. But I don't hide the number, if somebody asks I'll login to feedburner and check and be honest.
