If you're like me, you used your atom.xml feed to submit a sitemap to google. But then, you just redirected your feed to feedburner, so that you can count the subscribers to your feed correctly. But now google is showing an error on my sitemap. What can I do to fix this?
blogger needs some settings to use it as sitemap. learn what are those settings. http://techmake.blogspot.com/2007/05/how-to-submit-blogger-sitemap.html
Perhaps I wasn't being clear ameyjah. I've already set up my sitemap with google using the feed. But now blogger allows you to redirect your feed to feedburner. Which means the feed I set as my sitemap for google is being redirected to feedburner and google is not accepting the change. So what do I do to fix this?
Remove the feedburner from the Blogger Feed Settings Page. What Else? That's what I did and it worked. I would rather have my pages indexed then have blogger redirect my feed to feedburner. Decide what you want.
I was hoping to have both. I wish google allowed you to submit a sitemap from another site. Imagine how many blogspot users (and other bloggers, for that matter) who would sign up for a tool like that.
To be perfectly honest, I don't understand why blogger doesn't just create a sitemap for every blog. It doesn't seem all that hard (from what little I know about sitemaps). And since google owns blogger and google wants sitemaps, you would think they would just go ahead and do it.
For what it's worth, I had the same problem and found a pretty decent workaround. It basically involves changing your template's autodiscovery tags. Check it out at: http://quixotic-engineer.blogspot.com/2007/07/blogger-feedburner-and-sitemaps.html Please note that this workaround will not work that well if you're planning on redirecting your Atom feed subscribers to your Feedburner account, as it will involve turning off the new redirection feature. Hope this helps, feel free to e-mail me or comment on my blog if you have any questions.
