I'm stuck between my old site (php base on E107) and remaking the site now before it gets too big to do it efficiently.

    the site now is: www.motoringreport.com
this works just fine, but is bandwidth heavy. However it has prebuilt in stuff like RSS output, thumbnailing of images, ease of posting news articles (etc etc).

However, I am also very limited by the very rigid aspects of the site (like where ads go, how images are aligned and more)....and not to mention again, the massive bandwidth these heavy sites tend to use.

so here is my alternative (that my wife doesn't like which gives me pause in continuing it's developement): http://www.motoringreport.com/testing/index.html

may I pretty please have feedback on this as to which you may feel is better in not only look/design, but also SEO etc.

    thanks for your time!!

I think the 2nd one still needs a little work but, visually, it is better. The first one is over crowded and has too much stuff on the front page. The second one should probably be expanded some more, but it is more simplistic looking which is "in" (web 2.0 anyone?) these days ;)

I'm guessing you don't have a widescreen monitor, because if you did you would notice on the 1st layout, the more you stretch the screen the more the site gets b0rked! I attached a screenshot of what it looks like on my dell lcd fullscreen.

Plus the markup behind on the second design is nice and clean, My eyes love it :D

how funny it looks in wide screen! While on Christmas vacation I did some stuff on it on a widescreen, but the errors weren't anything near that bad!

wow, so thanks for pointing that out!

I agree, I too like the new design alot better.. so based on your input, I will complete it and run in that direction, thank you very very much!
