Recently updated this web site, what do you guys think about the look? Its not supposed to be super trendy, most of the customer base are middleaged, 40+ years old. Feedback on the flow of content, and the basic overall design appreciated. And would you say it is simple and easy to use? www.fencingwaikato.co.nz
The heading looks good but the body is a little bit amateurish. Why not take a look over at the Theme Forest? They've got a ton of a cheap templates, etc you can use to make your sites look extremely professional.
my opinion: 1)the blue and turquoise background color is not so nice 2)the option text (home, about us,contact us,...etc) is not suitable.and it should be larger or bold 3)nice contents.but i think u should add Q&A page also.for better services
Thanks for the feedback, will try to address these issues. tnhafiz, what colour would you suggest for the body that would suit the background and header?
It looks like a web 1.0 site. No flashy, all info. In SEO terms simpler is better. In design terms, eyecandy is below par. Depends on what visitors come to your site of course.
Here are my thoughts on this - 1) The top navigation is very problematic to read, please make the foreground and background color difference more. Its tough for middle aged people. 2) Main content loses formatting 3) Add some footer links and copyright statements, otherwise its looking blunt at the end. Rest is good to go with the essential info that you need to spread among your customers. Good to start with. Well done.
Thanks for the feedback, I understand there is definitely a lot of room for improvement for this site. Fixed the top navigation. Will add footer text soon. When you say main content loses formatting, what exactly do you mean?
There is a special area for website review on DP, why not posting there? here is the link http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=23 My thoughts on your website: Good effort but can be more improved.
At the end of the day black or very nearly black text on a white background is the easiest to read. That being said the trick is to get color into the design by other means. Typically in the header and then through the use of "div"s where you can add mini headers and borders. Another way is to create your "div"s with a white background and place them on a page with a colored background (light colored background}. In fact I have found some of the best looking pages I've seen use this technique and the background color is very subtle, just enough to see that it's there. I have found it very helpful to look at the sites of the multi-national companies observe their design techniques. You will notice they are typically aiming for a very "professional" look.
