I just announced my new directory in the announcements forum

After some thought i decided on removing the description field on the submit page as submitters are paying for a REVIEW not just the link

So i thought i will review the website not just use the descritpion they would have submitted as that really is not a review is it also the same descripion would probably be submitted over and over. So the other bonus is detail pages would be UNIQUE

here is an example of one i have already done

    your feedback is appreciated

Hi Choice, I really think that is a nice idea to have unique descriptions for your directory :)

Great idea. But if you will write reviews, why require link title and category to be submitted? URL and contact info should be plenty to determine appropriate category and come up with a keyword free title.

I award you +1 editorial integrity points. :D

Strange that the detail page doesn't mention what category (or categories) the site is listed in.

Looks like a good step, for me i would still remove the other info and ranking buttons at the bottom and replace them with something for the visitor or business.

It's a good piece of original thinking to get rid of the description field altogether. But as others have said, possibly a lot of work. This isn't just because you have to rewrite the description, because in most cases you end up doing that anyway. But without a description field at all there's nothing to base a rewrite on, so you actually have to dig around the website in question a little more to see what it's really offering.

By the way, the detail pages are redirecting to the home page for me.

this was always the only way to build a directory imo
i would have left the description field and just used it as another source of information for our own review though..

the idea is not to rewrite the description but to write an actual review of the site NOT a description

by the way detail pages work fine now
