I've created a new logo for one of my side projects. It's a website for restaurant owners to post their menus. Not a new idea but the domain is great. I've attached the logo. Let me know what you think! Thanks
A tip. If it doesn't work in black & white, it won't work as a good logo. My opinion is the logo is too flat. The idea has potential though. Look up for inspiration e.g logofaves.com All the best!
Hi rolodex, Thanks for the input. By flat do you mean it's just kind of boring? Thanks for the website suggestion. I don't think I've run across that one. -Brandon
By flat I mean there's no depth and contrast to it. What tools are you using to create the logo? Contrast can be in term of colors, or whitespace. Here's one tutorial on the banners. I think your banner looks dead. http://abduzeedo.com/gta-v-logo-illustrator-and-photoshop Good luck. Rolodex
Green continents in your logo have some sort of 3D effect, try to slightly "raise" them out of the oceans, even beyond the borderline of the planet. Just slightly, it may give some depth to the whole logo
And i personally don't like how the ribbon is folded around the Earth, it really makes it look "flat" like rolodex had suggested. You cant fold a ribbon around spherical object like that And how about some hint that you collect restaurant menus? Like small menu card hovering over the targeted area instead of that red thing
Hi all, I've come up with a new version of the logo. Let me know what you think and thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. -Brandon
That is exactly what i meant. You're on a good way now. Now, why are the elevated parts of continents outlined in blue? And i still don't like that red "thing" . Try to experiment a little with other graphic elements also. For an inspiration, i did a quick work in GIMP for you:
Thanks for the examples. I think if I were to try anything else at this point it would be a push pin with a menu but I don't want to cover up too much of the USA. And if you don't mind me asking, why not the blue border? No reason for it really, I just tried and thought it looked nice. -Brandon
It just seems natural to me - the blue color separates the continents from water, from a perspective it looks like there is another water behind/above the elevated continent (which there of course is but you shouldn't see it from this fish-eye like perspective, because the continents are higher than the water - phew, if you know what i mean ). It just looks wrong to me, but that is just my opinion...
i like it however it would be better to have something that relates to a restaurant, so instead of using a red pin pointer, use a fork or something, to show that its about restuarants.
I like it a lot. I think you should make the ribbon not go all the way around the globe, but just stay in front of the globe. I think the little pin in North America should be less bulbous and sleeker. Maybe make the continents a little more rounded off and more accurate to their exact shape. -Tony
