Hi, I have been provided with the following price for a web development company to develop my website using magento enterprise and wanted to know if it is a fair price they are quoting me. Am I being charged for anything I should not be charged for? Are the prices reasonable? Am I being over charged on everything or somethings? Note, the prices for the Add Ons include the cost of the Add on + the cost to integrate and set the add on up in the website. The quote does fit within our budget, but I want to make sure that I am not being ripped off. Design & Build - £1,040.00 CSS / HTML - £1,668.75 Magento Integration - £2,080.00 Total Design & Build Costs = £4,788.75 Add Ons (prices includes the cost of the Add On + the cost to add it to the site and set it up.) Themed email templates - £200.00 Product Labels - £130.00 Custom Advanced WP Blog - £850.00 In store video on product page - £65.00 Sales reporting - £65.00 Reward points - £260.00 Ultimate SEO (Canonical Links) - £130.00 Featured Products - £260.00 Product Notification - £130.00 Category Image Rollover - £130.00 Who bought this also bought - £130.00 FAQ - £260.00 One Step Checkout - £260.00 Mobile version - £825.00 Multi Currency - £380.00 Gift Certificates - £225.00 Checkout Promo - £420.00 Follow up email - £550.00 Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you
This is why I use PrestaShop's free solution. Magento's software alone costs an arm and a leg, all for a more complicated user interface which you will likely need to hire someone separate just to manage, considering you're already hiring someone to set it up. Matthew
I think some are way off. Your design and build should cost more then the overall dev (html+magento) that's very important to have good design. Your HTML costs more then magento integration, that's wrong. Design = cost more then dev of theme HTML = 50% of DEV at most Magento integration = 50% or more of dev Now this is about 7400$ for a theme, which is insane, this is how I would put it: $3000-$4000 for design from premium designers of themeforest.net such as http://www.markoprljic.com/ The rest goes into a good development firm for overal dev (html+ integration). Regarding addons, I would advice to buy already built ones like from http://aheadworks.com/ This is better because many users buy them and the company can afford to sell them less pricey and bug free as well. Regarding WP blog 800 GBP this is insane price but I think $1k should be enough. Cheers
Thanks guys for the feedback, which is reassuring. At east I know that I am not being taken to the cleaners. So, in essance, the pricers are not way out or extreme, but some of you feel that the prices could be balanced slightly differently, but overall it seems to be a not too an unreasonable quote. Balancing your much appreciated feedback together with their portfolio of work and first impressions of dealing with them I now think that it is perhaps worth my time to go and have a one to one meeting with them. Kind regards James
Here's my problem with this. Design & Build - £1,040.00 CSS / HTML - £1,668.75 Magento Integration - £2,080.00 This is a crazy price for just a design that works with Magento without any of the addons... Paying for a design and then paying the same company to make it in html, and then paying them again to make it work in Magento in insane. You're basically paying for the same thing 3 times. Go look around for custom magento themes. You should easily be able to find a solid custom or semi-custom theme with integration for under $2000US. As for the addons, you can do a lot of these yourself, and most of them you don't need. Your webmaster should be able to install free addons for everything listed. It's unlikely you will need things like mobile versioning right away unless you are geared towards mobile. The rest of the plugins are either already bundled with magento and just need to be activated, or there are free plugins available for them. Don't pay more than a few hundred for someone to install all of these, that's just crazy. My other concern, is who is supporting your website. Just setting this stuff up doesn't guarantee error free use for ever. I would be concerned that you later end up needing support, and they want another £2,000 and £100 per hour for a support package.
Seems pretty high to me especially for the design like the others noted. This better be one heck of a design. If Magento is really that hard to work with that they need to charge so much perhaps you would be better off with a different cart unless you have a lot of money to spend. Like the above posters said what will your monthly maintenance and hosting costs be? Remember if someone else sets it up for you, you will probably also need to pay them to maintain it unless they are going to train you in how to do that. Will they also be ensuring that your site is always up and running for you on your host or do you have someone internally to do that??
