hey, i dont know if this is appropriate, but i would like to ask your opinion for a redesign of my website: the old (current) one is: https://www.sakkadentrainer.ch the new: http://test.sakkadentrainer.ch points of interest: - design - usability - design sorry, the english version is not yet ready best regards beat
I like the new one better. It's more user-friendly. Make the top menu bar black (almost black, something like #222222) and then make your logo all white. You'll have to make the burger menu all white too. That way it will look more clean / more professional. As of now you have yellow (your logo) on light blue. It looks bad. Your site was slow to load for me. I am not sure, but I think it's your images that slow it down.
Check the website speed on: https://tools.pingdom.com/ If the images are too large, which can slow down the website, you could compress the images. The quality won't be affected. www.imgopt.com/
I can see why you're making the change but the new design is a bit predictable and bland until you start scrolling down. You need a bit more punch "above the fold". I love what you're doing though!
thanks for your feedback. so yes the site is slow... its a gif animation in the gallery, which is 13mb big (maybe i should try to do a lazy load for the gallery, so those 13mb are only loading if someone scrolls down) about the color for the top bar, im not sure... my new main color is blue, so i kind of like it and sarahk: what exactly do you mean by 'more punch'? more content, or visual effects?!? the thing is, the website has to be easy usable, because target user has probably low vision...
disclaimer - I'm not a designer but the image is what catches your attention - I didn't realise until I revisted the page that there was a mouseover effect. I'd drop that and stick with the coloured version and put a call to action on the image. I'd then take the next section and make it two columns. People have a hard enough time with eye tracking across wide text - I can't imagine it gets easier when you've had a stroke. Repeat the buttons but make them vertical and on the left to counterbalance the ones on the image.
hey sarahk, so you woulld do it like you made it on your screenshot? twice the same call to action? you think this is really needed? i agree that the image catches the attention. and maybe i could remove the hover effect, yes but, i dont you think grayscale is 'easier' for the eyes than colored version? the image should be only symbolic... what i want is put the attention the the call to action buttons.
The grayscale is artier but the coloured version is warmer and more welcoming - check it out with your target market maybe. the buttons twice may be a bit much, maybe hide them on the big screens and show them on tablets and phones? I'd definitely be looking at ways to make the text narrower though.
yes, i see your point with grayscale! so i change the above fold UX a bit. you can check it online: http://test.sakkadentrainer.ch the old version: better?
I like the red and the new photo. If you stick with those colours don't forget to update your favicon.
New Design looks good. Need to work of the wrapper. Maybe centralize the content. They are too left sided right now. Responsiveness is a good addition. Overall, it's a good re-start.
