Hi, I'm working on a new project: http://review.onyxbits.de From the webserver logs I gather, that I do get traffic to that site. It is completely organic and likely 100% targeted. The problem is, that most visitors leave again after viewing the frontpage (without following any links to other pages on the site). I am looking for reasons, why this is the case. Especially I am interested in hearing about whether or not the idea behind that project is well enough communicated.
The layout and design of the site is not bad. But you're giving advice on gaining backlinks and improving traffic. However, your site does not have very much backlinks and it does not receive very much traffic. If I were looking for this type of advice I would like to receive it from someone who has gained many backlinks to their site and someone who is receiving a high volume of traffic.
Yes, that is the problem with new projects . My main site performs better in that respect, but for administrative purposes, I had to put it on a sub domain. Thank you for your review.
The site looks good. I would adjust the top graphic to make it a little more clear what your site is about. The "digital gems in a virtual world" slogan doesn't mean too much to the first time visitor and running "Websitereview" together as one word is a little awkward. I like the description that you place right up front on the page to let your visitors know what the purpose of the site is but you may want to change the heading slightly to make it more intriguing. "Welcome to the review board" doesn't do justice for the service you're providing.
Thanks for the review (Rep added). I tweaked the headings. I'm a bit unsure of the slogan, though. It's a question of corporate design.
