I would really like to know if anybody else has experienced collapse in CTR+ECPM+CPC-wise starting in February (Jan 31 was totally normal day). Facts: - Same traffic - Same advertizers with the same budgets (small niche, everybody knows everybody) - Everything was rock solid the last year - Last minutes of January looks normal ... then... February starts and CTR drops 20%, eCPM 25% in one second and has stayed at the new level every since. Is this something only I am experiencing, or...? I just cannot figure this one out... If it is penalty (and the level of the jump would support this), why has my CTR jumped down? Only explanation I can think is that: I have hit some penalty word, which has ""disabled"" some of the ads. But without knowing the exact problem, it's kind of difficult to "undo".
i cant say i have... but i did a site redesign for one of my sites that used to get 10K views a month... views have dropped to 7K but CTR has gone up... and I used to b!tch about my CPC but when CTR when up like 9% CPC has been good.
This month was disastrous. It all started from Jan 2010.I do no tknow whether google has made any algoritham change in search engine rankings since page views also came down More so in ecpm which is rock bottom. I am moving on to CPA .
Yes, I had the same problem exactly started on Feb 1st. My CPC drop started Feb 1st and has shed more than 50 percent until now. Traffic increased. CTR reduced by 10 percent.
well, thats the way adsense is actually. sometimes you get better payout for the same traffic and sometimes it goes down to ditch.
Maybe it's time to move on and not solely depending on Adsense. Now I'm more towards selling advertising spots on my website.
There has been a discussion about this on webmaster world. You can read that here: February Adsense Down oh just checking it out, he has copied the same post...
Experienced the same thing myself. Though my drop wasn't has drastic as some of those posted above. I heard that there's often a drop in CPC during February (don't know the reason though).
i was also having the same problem last week, but now its normal. you just need to talk to support group and they will assist you.
I have this mental image of a bunch of DPers sitting in a circle in a room, going around the circle making introductions: "My name is Adpubster and my earnings have decreased in February" Group: "Welcome Adpubster" Moderator: "Well, that was cleansing, who's next?"
