I allow 15 per category, ive seen some directories with at least 40+ featured links on a category with 10 regular at the bottom.
15 per category seems like a fair number to me, i dont want to go too high, definately not up to 40 or more, i shall go with your limit i think.
Hello... 15- 20....25 Max, for featured links...... Sorry regulars dont get the same catagory as featured... not with any of mine... thx malcolm
Might also depend on he size of your featured listing space, if its something with a bit large then might make it smaller, something like this which I think is large http://www.directorymix.com/Web-Directories/ I keep at 10, but something smaller like http://nplinks.com/Computers_and_Internet/Web_Directories/ which can fit a bit more listings I would limit at 25 per category.
well 15 is perfect for the submitter as he shares PR with his compadres... 25 is if you need an extra couple bucks! thx' malcolm
The focus should be on the total amount of outbound links per page not the featured ratio. 35 Max on outbounds is good, 25 is ideal but for total.
donttrustthisposter, so for example are you saying that 35 outbounds would be the combined total for featured and standard from one page? so theres not too many links per page.
If you set a limit of say 25 featured per category and strictly stick to that number and that number is reached in a particular category, does it just disallow a submitter if they try and submit a featured to that already full category? in phpld
Yes. If the limit is met, any further submissions receive an error message informing them that no further featured links are accepted in that category.
Interesting -- OK --so are the Featured listing only on top categories? If they are not --then 15-20 featured links + same number of standard listing --is not it too many OBL? Just asking
Probably with featured listings, many directories allow over 40 easily. I don't see many directories with max. 25, including featured. The prices of those should be reasonable according to the total outbound links as well.
I allow 20 max on Mvzr directory, but on others which are not popular I put about 5-10. I would say around 15 is great so you dont over sell and the customer is happy that way too .
Featured link allowance really isn't a concern of mine because I am hitting the main page/cat with PR from abroad. My main concern are the subpages. I want to be able to pass PR all throughout. I despise phpld's current pagination system(which is error prone btw) and will eventually work on that.
Can you explain little bit Rob? Romow seems to have done great with PR4 -main page and PR5 subpages. It always seem that normally all sites have 1point-less PH on immediate sub-page. -As a dumb technically --I am just putting something a friemd told me. According to him phpLD is using the Home_Improvement --and he thinks Home-Improvement would be better to pass on the PR to inner-pages.
I was referring to the subpages of the category e.g. page-1.html, page-2.html, page-3.html They are hard-coded into phpLD's schema and I don't want them to be that way. i want them to represent the actual category. home-improvement-1.html, home-improvement-2.html, home-improvement-3.html I would feel alot more comfortable if they were directly related to the category in which they reside in and represent. Follow what I meant now?
