    I guess just the fact that I and many other people never heard of Orkut, says a lot. Though it has a pretty good ranking - 97 by Alexa, but dude... you can't compete with second largest site in the world and 600 mln users :)

    Facebook! but depends for what.... for staying in contact with friends? facebook!

    for marketing? facebook!

    For meeting new people? maybe other sites - facebook users are not as open to meeting new people, its more of a, already met in real life, so il add you kind of social networking.

    But Orkut is popular in markets where Facebook doesn't hold the monopoly (and especially popular in Brazil and India). You shouldn't discount it if you're trying to attract a worldwide audience.
