Doing SEO and getting free organic traffic, adwords and blog commenting which is useful for others is my favourite. I usually see results in long term but they always help me getting traffic.

I think it depends on what it is you want to achieve, what stage you are at and how much money and time you have, whether you take the labor intensive route and do it all yourself or whether you outsource, JV or automate. Marketing is about getting the word out so that the people who are looking for what you provide can find you. Soit is not so much about what your favorite technique is, as to what techniques are most appropriate for the job in hand.
