Absolutely. Not to mention that the probability of code conflicts increases exponentially.

Too many prepackaged bells and whistles are why I don't like portals...

look at how many people go on there, look at the speed of replies and helpfulness.
it wouldn't be if I was petty like you holding grudges forever over stupid stuff.

I have not yet seen anyone getting the help that he/she needs over there, sorry!
not saying it is, just not everyone's cup of tea.
and??? I replied. So what are evryone's favorite hacks was my initial questions. Maybe I was looking for some ideas here. I have looked thru the vbwebmaster thread and didn't find anything new or useful.

Maybe I have not phrased my initial post right, and the question should have been: "what would you guys do if you ran a web design forum, would you come up with some hacks ...?" something like that.

But then again, what do you care Minstrel. You're just here to argue and protect a few people, that's all.

I missed this line the first time I read it. That's a good point too: The majority of the phpBB mods I use are hidden too... many of them are to make forum administration more efficient, while others are improvements on navigation and SEO.

Yep... a perfect example is I hate how vBulletin (and some other forum software) gives you 3 points of entry to the root of the forum rather than just one. In a default setup, depending on how you arrive there it could be one of:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/index.php
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/index.php?

Then again, that's just be being anal. :)

I disagree...originality is great but would you rather be McDonalds or Ray Kroc? It's much easier and actually imho more important to build on a good idea. Originality is difficult but I can take any idea and make it better 10x faster.

Another example is DP...they don't use their own original custom forums...instead they use a common forums software and built on it. 10x or even 100x easier....

Of course if by chance you get a great original idea and have the ability to implement it then great...but spending your time trying to be original imho is a waste of time. Great ideas just come to you...they are not forced. Until that idea strikes...just work your butt off.

Reread, no objection. Not on that one.

Question: Why do we need another list?
Answer: vbulletin.com is very technically oriented.

    Re-read what you wrote:

"Finally" vs. listed in my first post, the POST you objected to. That was my point.

Joey, just keep spamming your forum ... there is not much else you'd be able to discuss.

With your record of blatant self-promotion, I don't think you want to be accusing anyone else, Toots.

You are a hypocrite, Minstrel. You support some people's spam and then go against others for doing the same thing.

Joey wasn't spamming. I mentioned his forum in this thread, not him. Further more, you and I both know that the reason you keep slamming Joey and his forum is that he fired you as a moderator at his forum -- that is the reason you like to find oppportunities to slam him and his forum when ever you get a chance.

edited out, because Minstrel is a hypocrite and not worth being paid attention to. Others shouldn't have to be bothered with this.

    Yeah. Uh-huh.

Leaving that aside, it doesn't alter the fact that the person who mentioned the forum here wasn't Joey but me so your acccusation of "spamming" against Joey doesn't even make sense. It also doesn't alter the fact that your posts have contained more attempts to divert traffic from DP to your own sorry sites than any other member in the history of DP. For a while, that even included redirecting one of your domains to your profile page here at DP, which was to say the least odd.

Clean up your own act before you slam anyone else.

Uh-huh. Do a search on your own posts and tell me how many like that you find.

And now as far as I'm concerned this discussion is ended.
