Father 'buried 10-year-old daughter alive'

    A man was disturbed by his wife as he attempted to bury their 10-year-old daughter alive simply 'because she was a girl', according to reports.

    The horrifying incident happened in Tripura, in north-east India.

    Abdul Hussein allegedly taped his daughter's mouth and tied her hands before digging a pit in the back garden of the family home.

    A shocking image of the little girl buried chest-deep was shown on Indian news station, NDTV.

    When Abdul's wife returned home, he tried to conceal the little girl by placing a bamboo basket over her head, it is alleged.

    His wife became suspicious and the little girl was eventually found by neighbours.

    Abdul was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

    NDTV reported the man disliked his daughter because 'she was a girl'.

    and to think that the crime was not committed deliberately or negligently but because he had the audacity to create sperm with the X chromosone. He should be hung!

    It's scary that any human would be even capable of doing such devastating and evil thing. Maybe I'm wrong but I always think that there isn't enough punishment for crimes. If there was, maybe there would be less crime.

    That's been proven wrong through the ages. Desperate people will still steal etc. What we need is better mental health facilities, better rehabilitation, better education so that people will have choices. You'll still see people who opt out, who don't want to buy into the "system" and be a goodie two shoes and all that pathetic crap.

    As for this man, we don't know why he was angry that the child was a girl or why his anger only boiled over when she was 10. Would she not allow incest? or allow herself to be married off? or is the family's poverty such that he couldn't afford another mouth to feed?

    I think we should up the punishment on some crimes, to see if they continue.

    What has been proven is that these types of people aren't interested in "getting help". If they were, they simply would.

    What is the point of asking these questions.. . ? The guy is a deranged sicko. End of story.

    There is no amount of prison OR rehabilitation that will fix Abdul. He's like an old deep south racist in America, who hates black people just because they are, well, black.

    He has a deeply ingrained set of cultural and religious values that make it OK for him to do what he did. People like him won't change until most of the people around him find the commonplace misogyny of his current culture to be abhorrent. He probably thinks of himself as a guy who just went a little over the line.

    Cultural problems like this don't end until the generation infected with them dies and is replaced by an uninfected generation. Sadly, in Abdul's case, much if not most of the younger generation shares his culture.

    Well, yeah. Wouldn't she kind of be wondering what's up anyway, if she returned home and her daughter was missing? I wonder how long "eventually" was?

    People like this do not deserve to be rehabilitated. Build a concrete box in the middle of the desert and throw him in to it.

    And, to add to what I said earlier, we should have ZERO tolerance when it comes to killing/injuring innocent children.
