I found a fairly lengthy list of biblical flaws which can all be viewed here: http://erasefaith.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=2 It's definitely worth the lengthy read Here is a digg link as well: http://digg.com/offbeat_news/Fatal_Biblical_Flaws/blog
man I'm joining that forum right now. We need more of the people like you...we need more people with their eyes wide open
LK 1:26-38 The angel who appears to Mary to foretell the birth of Jesus says that Jesus will be given the throne of David, that he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and that his kingdom will never end. (None of this took place nor can it now be fulfilled.) It can be fulfilled...God can do anything...and the second coming of Christ has not happened yet, so in one aspect, you are right, but in the overall scheme of things, totally wrong. There are many places that say to "fear God"...I know for one that I do, because there is no way that I nor any other human (except Jesus who was fully divine and fully human) come near to having the power of God. The good news is that God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
If Jesus is a false prophet, Islam is a fraud and we are left with only one true choice for the faith that should rule the enterprise called Earth. But how many people can think for themselves ?
Not many which is why religion is here in the first place. It gives the thoughtless masses something to follow and believe.
Ahhh, but can you disprove that God exists? You ask for proof that God exists yet you require no proof whatsoever that he does not. That is actually an example of faith
1EightT, there are quite a few of us who actually have given much thoughtful consideration to issues of faith. Perhaps you are a student of history, but I suspect not. If you were, you would discover that the overwhelming majority of the great minds of earlier civilizations and societies were people of faith, people with religious values, embracing a wide variety of religions, but definitely embracing religion. In fact, ask anyone skilled in Cultural Anthropology to name for you even a handful of societies that were long-term atheistic, and you will come up empty. Don't fall for the post-modern party line that religion is for the mindless minority. Throughout all history it has been the opposite.
I think the fallacy of your list is that it reads the context of the verse only to fit your agenda. *** I understand that it's hard to believe in any sort of supreme being. So lets take this from a purely scientific point. The earth, the planets, the universe could and most likely was created by The Big Bang. This theory states that the origin of the universe derived from a "cosmic explosion that hurled matter and in all directions". Now utilizing basic principals of science that state that matter doesn't simply manifest itself from nothing... where then did all of the matter required for the creation of the universe come from? You say there is no god and ask for no proof. I say there is a god, and ask "Where did everything come from if not from a supreme being?". A sound scientific answer would suffice
Yes and if we came from apes, where did the first ape come from? If we crawled out of the ocean, where did that thing that crawled out of the ocean come from?
There are no flaws in the Bible. People just don't know how to interpret it or they play with it to make it a flaw.
Sure, the romans thought that a god carried the sun across the sky in a chariot. I think anyone living in this century would laugh at that idea. Given enough time Christianity will be looked at in the same light.
