Fastest way to rank well?

IMO, there's no such thing as "fastest way" to rank well. there maybe tactics but i'm not sure if it will go a long way.

i think it is much better to take everything in a process. it may be a long process but at least you are pretty sure that you will maintained a good ranking forever.

ranking fast is useless if you will lose your ranking as fast as you gained it.

improve your link popularity using your targeted keyword as your anchor text...that is called google bombing...submit your site to directories (though being accepted in the directories will take time especially if you submit your site for free), forums, social bookmarking sites, article directories, and link exchange...

 

Not so much patience, but you need to make your linking efforts look as natural as possible... Yes, google does not like manipulation of the search results, but that is basically what we all try to do isnt it?

 

If you are talking SERP, not PR, the only real way to get high SERP real fast is to select non competitive keywords and use them in your site's SEO and buy a domain name with those keyword/keywords in it.
