I have hundreds of 600x400 jpgs that I need thumbnails of. While I need the thumbnails to all be the same size, i need to resize some of the originals to get good thumbs. What do you use to do this? Someone recommended infranview to be but I havent been able to figure this out.
If you're going to be doing the same thing on each image (e.g resize, crop, whatever), you can record an action in Photoshop, and then apply the action to an entire directory of files using the automate function.
would it be possible to do a manually assisted batch process? where each picture could pop up, i could shrink it a little, and click the spot to crop say a 150x150 square? then automatically save with a _t or something like that?
You can probably try to use software on the market by using "resize photo software". Some of them offering batch process resizing.
I advise to use a VideoCharge Studio. It is professional soft for a job with thumbnails. For example, you can use batch mode for convert all images, resize, crop, watermark it. also, you can create thumbails from video file. http://www.videocharge.com/Products/vcs/doc/create_thumbnails_for_video.php
