Hi Its my first post on this forum, and I've got a question for you guys:What is the fastest, most effective way to build a targeted opt-in list of 1000 - 5000 people? And when I mean "fastest" I mean in a few weeks time, if you have money to invest. I know PPC, banner advertising, affilaites (with an upsell) - mostly done with a squeeze page - these methods will likely take more than a month. Are there any ways to simple buy a targeted list, or a ton of targeted leads at a time, or outsource the process? Thank you!
I hate to break it to ya, but most if not practically all Internet users do not like opt ins. Why should I, for example, give you my address before having to see your site? If I have to sign in JUST to see your site, I will back out again. Think of the money you will have wasted when most if not practically all of your visitors back out again. Buying a list is more than likely a waste of money, as many use a throw-away address, like using a Yahoo mail account, to get access into a site. A better, smarter way to do it is to show them your site, show them what you can do for them, and have them sign up for additional info.
Copper12, thanks for your reply. However I'm not looking for marketing advice, I know the benefits / draw backs of owning and building a list... I need to know how to build a list as fast as possible, not because I think its the best way to make money but because I NEED it for various reasons. Thank you.
Let me show you a reverse opt in tactic that will quickly build up a list. Join popular forums in your niche. Set up a signature file. Post something valuable in the forums and send traffic to your site through your sig file. Set up a one-page (or a few pages) site, show people how you success story (make money, rank high in Google with certain keywords etc...). Best if you can post some screen shot. Show them step-by-step....people like real case study. At the end of the page, ask for email in return for a free report (which you'll give out more info). That should build you a list faster than PPC.
Ok, I got ya. Well, the "fastest way," "most effective way" is probably via advertising. But to get that many in a few week's time, man, you are going to have to have ten's of thousands of visitors coming to your site (remember, very few do not like opt ins), and we are talking a lot of money, and time to do this. It is not cost effective. Well, maybe you have something planned, and in the end it may be. Anyway, the more people who see your ads, the faster you will get there. Yes, you can post in blogs and boards, but you should know that you will get only a few a day. If that many. At that rate it will take you, God knows how long to get to your target figure. Writing articles is not all that great either. Do cheap advertising in sites that have good traffic. Use compete.com to see, roughly, how many visitors a particular site gets. You can buy a list, even though many of the names may no longer be active, and or they may no longer open up e-mail sent to them, but if you are willing to spend the money, you can, of course, get the number of names you want. You'll just have to buy a much larger list, to get that many. Perhaps you can do a search for sites that its webmasters have opt ins themselves, and they would be willing to sell you their list. Well, providing you are not a competitor, that is. For example, maybe you have an electronic product that interests guys. You could contact such sites like DoubleYourDating.com. He has a pretty big list of names. Also ask such webmasters if they know of others who have lists.
Don't spend on PPC for there is no guaranty people will join your lists even though they visit your site... pay someone to create free products for you like ebooks, useful videos, etc and offer them for free... when they download the product, they must subscribe,, offer something your visitor cant's resists... I got 61 active subscriptions yesterday and 12 unconfirmed... just a sample..
Well said Viktor.To the OP you could write a short report,ebook or software on your niche and give it away for free.Join as a JV Giveaway contributor and submit your product to be included in their database.In order for a member to receive your product he has to optin to your list.This is one of the fastest and cost effective method there is. There are talk that JV Giveaway optins are freebie seekers and NOT buyers.For the naysayers and the OP read this FREE report(not mine).Good luck in your future endeavors dshops.
I built a list of 300 members. First they bought a product from me. And if they wanted a bonus product, they had to subscribe to my list. I haven't promoted other products to them yet. But when I do. I expect good conversion ratio. They have bought one product from me after all.
Offering any kind of bonus is always a good idea.... Today, I joined a free advertising forum (not so popular) and the owner is offering 9 great e-books to all new members. The e-books actually are all written by known gurus and they have distribution rights so you can actually offer the same products to your visitors... I followed the source the the person who wrote 3 of those e-books is offering 20 PLR articles with distribution rights as well... you can rewrite these articles many times and use if for your own promotion... There's a lot of resources around, just join in others' lists to know more their techniques... I has been a victim many times by effective opt-in strategies and I carefully study their styles and apply it in my own... Just create a separate email to be used for your subscriptions..
Thank you for your answers guys I know I can build a list rather quickly with PPC, and get opt-in rates of 25% to 40% with a decent offer. Thank you for taking the time to helm me out! And Copper12, I'm not sure why you think people don't like opt ins...I guess it all depends on the niche
Building a list is really difficult if you rely only in traffic. But if you know how to do it, you can build a list fast even with minimum traffic...

Not like the delusional noobs here who are content with VERY miniscule traffic and the noobs here who post, JUST to post; giving the impression they know what they are talking about, like some expert, when they really know nothing at all.
