Not sure if it's a problem with software. but i notice that my Ipswitch WS_FTP is very very slow when uploading folders. It goes into 'expanding folders...' first for a long time, before starting and even then upload seems slow.

What FTP software r u guys using and has there been any comparison in speeds?

    Tks.

I use FileZilla; started off as a SourceForge project. I totally support Open Source and this FTP client has been great for me, and is updated frequently. :)

Out of all of ones named, I would say SmartFTP is the greatest. Not only is it "smart" and is capable of great options, but it's actually been harder to exploit than the rest in terms of breaking the application. The rest that were said have been issued numerous exploits, which means the application itself is not safe to use, as it can be compromised.

CuteFTP is fantastic package imho. Lots of strong features and it's been around for years. It's not very expensive and trust me...it's worth it. I have used other FTP's and by far performance from CuteFTP is better. What used to take me 10 minutes to upload now does it in 1 minute. CuteFTP is multithreaded along with a lot of other features.

Try the pro package as a trial and you will see what I mean.
