My own record: I changed a site's URL 6 hours before it was requested via the "update listing" link! (The public servers had not updated yet)
I have had a few recently that were accepted within 24 - 36 hours. A few things that make the differnece - sometimes: The editor, if any. The category. How easy you make it for the editor (titlle, despcription, unique content being presented).
Given that ~50% of new sites listed in DMOZ were never submitted, the fastest is a 'negative' number. (ie how long were they listed before someone would have got around to submitting it?)
I just got my site on DMOZ. It was less than a week but I don't know how much. I submitted my site and just forgot about it because I have heard how long it can take. I found my site was listed when I was browsing DMOZ for something totally different. They never sent me a confirmation e-mail but that's fine with me P.S. I'm new here. Been a lurker for a while, but just decided to register. Nice to meet you all.
DMOZ ShitMOZ Google is the Best no games very good search engine, this is why Google making Tons of Money, Yahoo and DMOZ full off it.
Does adding your own site count? If so less than a minute. But about 45 days for one I didnt add myself.
Just an update as I posted previously in this thread about getting listed in 26 hours: my site is now deleted and so are 20 of my 'competition' sites. 3 new ones have been added all owned (accoring to whois) by the same person.
frankm, I think this is something you should absolutely report as abuse. Send a PM to compostannie and let her know about this.
Wow, that is definetely something to report. If you want I can try to help you out. Just PM me the info.
All the sites I've ever submitted never made it. At one point, I was a DMOZ editor myself, but for a category that had nothing to do with any of the sites I've ever wanted to submit. I regularly reviewed all the new submissions to my niche category, but many other more general categories go unreviewed, because it takes seniority to get a general category, and by then, most editors aren't as excited about checking submissions. DMOZ really needs more editors.
