Faster upstream connection

At the office we have a "high-speed" DSL connection. What we've noticed is that when we're uploading large file to our remotely hosted web server our download speed seems to decrease dramatically. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me as I always through upload and download channels were independent but perhaps not.

Anyway, I know that it's pretty common for upload pipes to be more limited so I'm wondering if we just need to get a bigger upload pipe. My plan is to call our provider but I figured I'd post here to see if this makes sense before I did that.

    Thanks!

I don't know (we sub-lease office space and didn't set this up). How can I test this?

Just upload a file to your webserver and get the general speed then we can tell you your upload speed.

Mine at home is 512kb up and 6mb down
