Fastclick refused this site?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by Homer, Mar 11, 2005.

Recently I have worked on a domain that is for AdSense publishers. It can be found by clicking my sig at the bottom.

I used to run AS on it but decided not to. The articles are mostly good and informative. However some authors speak a little to candidly about their successes with AS, I think. For that reason I decided not to run AS anymore on this site.

Yesterday I applied to fastclick (I already have a few accounts active with them). The response I got was this...

I am curious to know what thoughts anyone may have as to why Fastclick would reject this site? I suspect it has to do with AS

I'd say it's purely conflict of interest.

I was thinking conflict as well. But then again I don't understand this. My understanding is that G has more than their fair share in this marketplace. My thought is that companies like fastclick should be doing everything they can to increase marketshare...this doesn't make sense.

If I am a Fastclick advertiser promoting anything along this subject line...I would be please to see my ads on this site.

Thanks for feedback appreciate it :)

FastClick rejected all three sites I sent to them... the first time.

I resubmitted two sites and they were both accepted.

    <insert Twilight Zone theme here>

Maybe I should try to resubmit in a week or so. The letter they write should suggest that, but it is a pretty closed door letter with no mention of resubmitting.

It sounds like they may be approaching there limits of system resources to me.

Just curious why you would apply to Fastclick if your site is AS approved

I have had 2 other fastclick domains set up for 2 months now. I run fast click ads with AS banners together. The fastclick banners are extremely well designed and beg to be clicked. In two months the 2 accounts I have earned me enough money to have dinner for 1 at McDonalds.

PS Wondering if running Google and FAstclick together is a breach of Google's TOS?? Apparently not...banner ads are acceptable...contextual are not.

That site isn't very targeted, so neither are the AS ads. I wanted to try out fastclick to see if I could get better targetted contextual ads. Instead I have been trying out some affiliate ads, with pretty lousy results.

I like to have backup options and also want to see what other programs can offer first hand.

I got rejected too. I'm not applying again. There are many good advertising companies out there.

Somehow I feel surfers don't really click on banners as they are more sophisticated nowadays and then to go for content only

That is a good point, I agree. Some of the Fastclick banner designs are amazing though.

It doesn't really matter anymore. I emailed Google a link to my site and asked if it complied with guidelines. They responded within 24 hours...

I run AS and Fastclick together on a couple sites and haven't had any problems.

I haven't gotten any rejections from fastclick yet, though from the sounds of things I'm sure I am due on my next one, whenever that happens.

Fastclick encourages you to run ads with Google ads. It is Google I was concerned with. You can run image ads with Google contextual ads but not competing contextual ads.
