There is some information "out there" about getting your site indexed "Fast".

Are any of them worthwhile or do you just have to wait your turn like everyone else?

    ie. articles

Does having a link on a ranking page get you indexed faster or does that only help your rank when you have been indexed?

    Thanks much.

The more links you have the better, also getting links to internal page impove indexing. It is generally though that sites with higher PR get indexed more frequently so having links on those can only be of benefit.

Get a few incoming links from indexed pages and you'll be fine.

Ideally, get a few to the homepage and then a few to deeper pages and at least one to your site index.

I made a sitemap for that, but didn't help much actually. I think getting high PR links still is the best solution.

Ditto... I submitted severalsitemaps and it was just a waste of time, not one of them helped at all, the sites still have the same amount of pages indexed

I am not sure but there could also be a risk of being crawled less often if you upload a sitemap. An xml scheme of your site is already there, so the bots can rest a little:)

I've had some success with the google sitemaps, my main site went from 150 to 2500 (depending on the datacenter you look at) but all in all it helpped me.

I think the co-op helps as well, getting plenty of inbound links help.

I actually have tried google sitemaps with my prof. site and one I do for my kids school and especially the one with the school, google has crawled it for the first time since it came to be - of course, I didn't ever submit it either and still haven't but I did the sitemap and it's crawling now.

I figure it can't really hurt... but hey, If I knew everything ... or even anything, I wouldn't be here now would I :p

I joined the co-op (here) and keeping my fingers crossed for that :D

Anyway, thanks all for the info!

A link on a ranking page does not get you indexed faster. You need a link on a page that is visited often by google. Look at the Google chache to see when last that page was indexed. When google visits that page you should go into the index - and then the real work starts!

theres no secrets to getting indexed fast. One word "links". If you have a fairly established site already then linking to your new site from the homepage would be a good thing.

I used a link from a PR4 website, daily visited by google bot and my website was indexed the next day.

I think sitemaps are benificial for pages that require variables passed in order for them to be parsed.

Search result pages with pagination for example.

I doubled the amout of pages index by google this way for a real estate site. Maybe for more static pages they don't really help.

I tried submitting a site map for my latest blog and it was indexed the next day but I have no idea if it was the site-map that did it or the fact I was actively building links anyway.
