    I'm sure you all know www.shopstyle.com .

I'm going to make a web page like shopstyle.com, but without directing and linking to another sites from my site. I just want to make a online directory of clothing, shoes, accesories. As E-commerce websites are not so popular in my country, I decided to make just directory of stores likes - Zara, Bershka MassimoDutti ..etc.
Everything is same as in ecommerce web sites, my version will be without "Add To card" or "buy" button. I want visitors to search for clothing and make them notice about sales, new collection arrivals.

I wonder what is the easiest way of making such kind of site? I've tried Wordpress with Ecommerce themes but its not the one I want.

I wonder i this case, which is the best platform of creating catalog mode web site, what about Joomla? Do I understand you right, that there is no setting or free plugin for that

No the mods I have seen for this are cheap though. I don't suggest using joomla for anything, ever lol..

This cart for wordpress has a catalog mode but I have never even heard of it so I cant really advise you there. http://wordpress.org/plugins/dukapress/

    For wp-ecommerce http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-e-commerce-catalog-visibility-and-email-inquiry/

so that solution would be entirely free as well. I typically find woocommerce to be the soundest of the wordpress carts but you will have to spend a few dollars to get the catalog plugin.
