Please do all affiliates a favor and create IAB standard size graphics for any products so they can easily be included in existing templates. I have seen far too many people offer "custom" sized graphics (if they even offer any) and I ignore that product as it doesn't let me fit it into my templates easily. I also see a point to require affiliates to sign-up... but the fact is as an affiliate you don't want to be signing up to any lists when you are trying to test out products - if you get some success then it may be helpful, but not initially. All product owners should want to help affiliates, not hinder them by putting up barriers for easy promotion. Included are IAB standard sizes and I added expected to the end of the sizes that fit into most affiliates templates:
The banner sizes I added expected to the end of: 300 x 250 IMU - (Medium Rectangle) - expected 250 x 250 IMU - (Square Pop-Up) - expected 468 x 60 IMU - (Full Banner) - expected 125 x 125 IMU - (Square Button) - expected 728 x 90 IMU - (Leaderboard) - expected 160 x 600 IMU - (Wide Skyscraper) - expected 120 x 600 IMU - (Skyscraper) - expected Those ones allow horizontal, vertical and embedded graphics to be used with most site templates I have came across. The reason why I am appealing to all product creators is that many affiliates do use the review style approach and they may already have one product they want to promote and know about that product. However, finding decent alternative products will normally mean they just promote the top 2 in gravity because other people didn't provide any standard promotional banners etc. Bison - it is good that you have some graphics for affiliates - but many people don't even provide at least one banner to be used and hopefully all product owners start to think like a product owner and treat affiliates like sales people By all means, if some product owners want to keep the best stuff behind a sign-up form they can, but at the very least provide a basic banner in some standard sizes to allow affiliates to quickly promote it to test it out.
My graphic guy is busy for about the next week and a half, after that I will see if I can get some of the other size banners made for affiliates who prefer those other sizes. Thanks for the input.
Good advice. I often use the ad sizes in Adsense as a good size. Google "banner sizes" or something similar for more info.
My affiliates page mostly has non-standard banners at the moment, I'll add new ones soon enough though
I use pretty standard size banners, 4 sizes that are the most common adsense ad unit ones. I prefer that for my own sites so I can sort of seamlessly fit them in with adsense. I usually throw some other graphics like ebook cover etc in there too.
