Hello everyone, this is my first post on the forum.

I am looking into running a fantasy sports website. I was wondering if anyone here knows whether you need to have special licenses or permits to do so in the US (specifically Wisconsin). I have done some research already and under the Unlawful Gambling Act, fantasy sports is considered a game of skill as long as you have a set prize pool (announced before the start of the contest) that doesn't change based on the number of entries you have. I have also found that in some states, there are still laws that don't allow residents to receive prizes from fantasy sports contests. I will be excluding residents from those states from my paid contests.

So basically, I'm wondering if I need any special permits, licenses, or tax permits to run a fantasy sports website based in Wisconsin.

    Thanks in advance.

So you plan on using your own system to run all of the leagues? If so, I'm not sure then.

I have my own application for this. But I don't see why that would make any difference. Can you explain to me why it would make any difference whether I was using my own system versus someone else's system?
