"Liking" a page is viewed as a less "heavy" decision. Actually a good move, people are more likely to "like" a page than "fan" it.

This is really a great change for web marketers. As Hamiltonzth said, it is a less "heavy" decision that becoming a fan of something and someone is much more likely to simply click a link saying they like your page/product/website than they would becoming a fan of it.

Yeahhhhhhh.... I would rather fan a page than like it... But I bet it is because of the new kinds of pages: The official pages and the community pages. :)

If some people become your fan,
when you add new content, will he/she see the changes?

It seems that Facebook are making lots of massive changes like this lately without really seeing what the community actually want. I noticed all of our fan pages today with "likes" and its just annoying - we want these people to engage with our product (well actually charity) and not just "like" it!

I think Facebook has also made a change on the same fan page, you dont have any clickable links for the number of members of your fan page. Did you realise that ?
I feel this is good change as many of my competitors use to steal my fan page members.

I much prefer the new 'like' pages instead of becoming a fan. It seems they are trying to become more like Twitter with their follow people. Do you still get the 'vanity' URL when you get 100 fans or would it be likes now?
