Family Finds Raw Meat Instead Of iPod Inside Sealed Box POSTED: 11:48 am EST December 29, 2005 UPDATED: 7:07 am EST January 2, 2006 A 14-year-old girl who received a new Apple iPod opened the sealed box and found raw mystery meat inside, according to a Local 6 News report. Rachel Cambra purchased a new high-tech iPod for her daughter as a gift this week. IMAGES: More strange stories, images on Local6.com When she opened the sealed box, the device was missing and in its place was a piece of raw meat, the report said. Cambra said the box was sealed and that it didn't appear to have been tampered with when she brought it home from the Honolulu Wal-Mart where she works. An investigation found that a former employee apparently tampered with a shipment of iPods and put the meat into several packages. The former employee now faces tampering charges, Local 6 News reported. The Wal-Mart where the device was purchased from promised to give the family a new iPod from the next shipment the store receives.
The fact that they purchased it at Walmart explains it all. What do you expect from a company that is willing to hire illegal aliens to work with them and the top execs know about it? I think in a way its the families fault. They should be smarter were they shop. I wouldn't step a foot into Walmart.
I love walmart! I go grocery shopping, pick up oil for my car, buy a cd or dvd, and my wife buys shoes for the kids, all in one stop with awesome prices to boot!
I worked for a bank for two years and never once deposited my money there or opened an account with them. Just because you work for someone doesn't mean you have to buy or use their services.
I had an item from china one time that had a partially eaten bagel inside it. Imagine a bagel after about 8 to 10 weeks on the ocean then in a warehouse for another 3 months. Mmmmm tasty.
Here's something funny to read on the topic of illegal immigrants and walmart. http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=walmart
Yeah. Lets blame the immigrants. Better yet, I remember reading in a history book about this city that put up a wall to prevent illegal immigration in or out. Let's do that. That will keep our iPods safe.
That's a moronic thing to say. Yeah Walmat has a past of bad practices, but I highly doubt that it is a company wide iniative to hire illegal aliens to put meat in iPod boxes. That being said I've had some employees I wanted to give the meat to.
You missed the point. The point is, Walmart is a crappy company, and this thread doesn't surprise me. I don't shop there, and I never will.
The point you made was equivalent to saying you hate Chinese people because one time you got sick from an eggroll.
You can't compare an entity like walmart to a race of people. Besides, how many other big companies have entire documentaries dedicated to exposing their corruption? I know companies screw up, but people nearly riot when Walmart wants to build a store in their town. A good example would be Oakland.
The statement you made was you should blame Walmart for one employees actions. There's a documentary about Enron. Just because someone made a documentary doesn't mean it's true. I don't really care about Walmart one way or another.
Hey, aren't you guys missing the point here? Someone found MEAT instead of an ipod somewhere... That's so brilliantly funny (however tragic it may have been for the poor little girl) !!! I can't COUNT the one-liners I could make about this fact alone... Heh. Wonderful. And I've never been to a Walmart anyway. But that's because I live in the UK. And illegal immigrants aren't the devil, you know. No, really. And neither are big, cheap, successful companies. You're probably in this for the money yourselves anyway, why judge others when you can just join in or ignore them?
I guess I should lighten up a little. Now that I've read your post it is sort of funny when I think about it........But it would sure suck if it happened to me. I knew a guy who once purchased a laptop from a guy on the street. He got it home, opened it, and found a piece of wood inside. I could never understand why in the heck you'd buy a laptop from a guy on the street. The fact that hes selling it on the street should be a dead giveaway lol.
lol. But seriously I think the family deserves something more like two ipods instead of one or a gift card.
