Fake PR?

I've seen one site with PR4. It had no (zero) backlinks, 1 subpage and site itself was a link farm - nothing other.

All PR checkers constantly showed PR4, even one fake PR checker.
Now - is there any reliable PR checker or what?

Not asking for any instructions here :) .

Yes it is. I've just read about how exactly it can be done, but won't publish it here.

I always check with SEOLOGS. It's one of the most reliable PR checker out there.

Its completely possible if he is using link: in Google to establish no sites are linking to it.

The Google Toolbar is easily manipulated with a redirect

Yes, this is what I've read about. Now is this seologs checker (as mentioned above) smart enough to discover this trick, or not? :)

Yes it is, although you don't really even need a tool is all you need to do is check the cache in Google.

Basically what people do is redirect to a higher PR site, wait for PR to update then remove the redirect.

I don't believe the PR here is fake though as if you used the link: operator, you would see all the links for the site they redirected to.

Plus a PR4 is so easy to get, it hardly seems worth the time (Most Fake PR is PR5 or PR6 as its not too high to arouse suspicion but is still worth it)

I checked that site (from my first post) again and I found out:

    1. Yahoo site explorer shows 69 backlinks to www and no one to no-www.
    2. In iwebtool it shows 6 backlinks for www and 36 for no-www domain
    3. With Google's link: 14 to www and 35 to no-www

Well, my explanation is that on Feb 9th backlinks were not updated yet plus I didn't pay attention on www.

Domain of the site was registered on January 16th, so exactly in the middle of PR update. PR was 4 on Feb 9th with all PR checkers, but backlinks obviously showed up only lately.

    I don't. I actualy don't need PR.

If it was useless, noone would want to fake it. People want PR to sell links from the site then. If this helps to anyone - this is a question.

It was claimed from one member here that he got real PR6 from PR0 on first update.
