Are you seriously wondering if this is legit? Because if you are...please keep in mind if you ever win a million pounds, I'm quite sure you'd have a representative knocking at your door, not a poorly written email. On a sidenote, I wonder how many people actually believe stuff like this, even in 2008?
I think the government should warn their people more of this sort of tricks... Because it must still work else spammers wouldn't send it around the world.

You guys are crazy. I am catching a redeye flight to Nigeria tonight because I not only won the $10 Million Lottery, it turns out that I am a Nigerian duke, with a massive estate and servants. They assured me that this is 100% legitimate. I will invite everyone over once I settle in.
