I have encountered situations where people send me an email to do link exchanges - i go ahead and put their links on my website and never hear from them again?

what is this all about? I usually end up taking their links off in about a week or so.

You should follow up with them, they may have been waiting for you to post your link first. Just speculating really, but when I do a link exchange I watch to make sure the link is actually put up, and I occasionally check all my links to make sure I can find my backlinks from them.

I have actually posted the links on my website, invited them to view it to make sure everything and kept them on my website for about 1 week.

I would guess newcomers using unfamiliar automation software to request links get lost/buried/behind and loose track of what they have done.

Ahhh - I didn't realize most newcomers would be doing it the fancy way. I am just doing it the old fashioned way of editing my files manually.

    Need more links!

Do these type of links help:
    • Links in articles that you write (e.g. Ezinearticles)
    • Links in Forums?

I have encountered similar situations with people on this forum.

They have directories. You submit your link and put up their reciprical link on your site and you never hear back from them.

I have to delete two links in past two days from sites advertised here.

    Real shame.

Yes, every type of link will help (at least a little).

And I would always wait with placing links until they have placed yours. At least they did request the exchange....

Using Submission software for Article Submissions but not links in forums. Links in Forums are just for getting your site crawled and indexed.

That is one of the problems with link exchanges. If you add their link first you run the risk of them never emailing you back. It is best to just email them first. If they respond that typically means they will add your link. I hate linking to people who never link back. It is such a waste of time.

The best link exchanges is when the webmaster emails you and has already added your link on their site which is related. Then the ball is in your court.

well some are a scam. but you should follow up on the emails when you put up a link and in a week or so it your link hasnt appeared on there site then email them a reminder. If still no response then remove there link.

    Good luck

yeah this kind of things has happened with me also. First they send invitation and then when we put their link they don't reply.

One (Bad Word - Censored Automatically) Asked me to exchange links He wrote in english and when I put his link he started replying In some I don't know which language. It were all boxes and starts in my email.
